Legislative Committee Report: October 27 Call
The Legislative Committee discussed the changes to the Business and Professions Code 7031 that we are suggesting to the Legislature.
Bill review for the 2011-2012 season had a strong underground economy element. Insurance was also strong in terms of indemnification issues. A big win was the displaced employees carve out the landscape industry was able to receive.
Upcoming issue to watch will be an initiative that will allow law enforcement to determine immigration status.
The LandPAC committee voted to contribute to Assembly-member Bill Berryhill fundraising event for his re-election.
The Underground Economy Task Force (subcommittee of the Legislation Committee) met and decided to continue on with the video project. Specific instructions were giving to the members that are producing the video.
HQ Board did not approve the entire budget requested by the Legislation Committee and time was spent to document and request a review of the budget as approved and our anticipated expenses. Changes to the Legislative Conference were made as an alternative to severely limiting membership reimbursement for their participation. |
