March 4: Sustainable Soils Seminar
? ASLA San Diego in conjunction with the CLCA San Diego chapter will present a seminar on Sustainable Soils on March 4, at Zocalo, 2444 San Diego Avenue in Old Town. 5:30 p.m. reception, 6:30 p.m. program.
The seminar will cover ASLA's Sustainable Sites Initiative and the importance of enhancing soil quality. The discussion will be led by Marian Marum, ASLA, LEEDAP and Ruth Stafford, ASLA, LEEDAP.
Soils for Landscapes, presented by Garn Wallace, PhD., Wallace Laboratories, will cover soil tests, soil management plans and soils for drought tolerant plants.
Concluding the discussion will be Sharon May of Agri-Service, presenting The Science of Composting.

March 5-7: Spring Home and Garden Show
Join us at the Spring Home and Garden Show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds where CLCA San Diego will be hosting a booth in the Meet the Experts section. This is your opportunity to educate the public about the advantages of hiring a licensed landscape professional, such as yourself. To volunteer to work the booth for a couple of hours, contact Jerrie Beard, (800) 605-1701.

April 10: Landscape Industry Certified Test in San Diego
 The Spring Landscape Industry Certification (formerly Certified Landscape Technician) field test will be held at Cuyamaca College on Saturday, April 10. The LIC written exams will be held on March 27, and June 5, at Cuyamaca College.
The chapter will also need help preparing the test site and administering the test -- everything from equipment to judges, so think about how you would like to help out.
Registration forms for all the 2010 tests are available on the CLCA web site, or call (800) 448-2522.
