San Diego Chapter Announces Winners
The
San Diego chapter of the California Landscape Contractors Association
(CLCA), a statewide trade association of licensed landscape and
landscape-related specialty contractors, has announced that 22
local landscape contractors have been honored for excellence in
landscape installation and maintenance as part of its 2008 Beautification
Awards program.
On
Friday, July 25, at the Maderas Golf Club in Poway, the CLCA San
Diego chapter said it presented 58 Beautification Awards in 31
categories, culled from 118 entries, which encompassed categories
covering residential and commercial landscape installation, maintenance
and renovation, along with water features, outdoor lighting and
water-saving California friendly design.
The
three top awards were: Sweepstakes award for best overall project
to DeMaria Landtech, Inc. of Solana Beach for the Perry residence
in Rancho Santa Fe; President's Award for landscape construction
to Enchanted Landscapes Inc. of Rancho Santa Fe for creating a
family style Tuscan retreat at the Willard residence in Santa
Luz; and, Judges Award for landscape maintenance to The Brickman
Group of San Diego for the Villas at Rancho Valencia in Rancho
Santa Fe. Multiple award winners included: Cirošs Landscape, Inc.
of Escondido with eight awards; The Brickman Group of San Diego
with seven awards; Summit Services, Inc. of Escondido with six
awards; DeMaria Landtech, Inc. of Solana Beach, Enchanted Landscapes,
Inc. of Rancho Santa Fe and Paradise Landscape of Carlsbad with
four awards apiece; Schnetz Landscape Company of Escondido with
three awards apiece; Benchmark Landscape, Inc. of Poway, Columbine
Landscape, Inc. of Vista, Daniels Landscape, Inc. of San Marcos,
Nature Designs Landscaping of Vista, NPN Landscape, Inc. of Encinitas,
Torrey Pines Landscape, Inc. of San Diego, and The Yard Fairy
of Carlsbad with two awards apiece. .
Saving
Water and Money for Your HOA
Homeowner
associations and landscapers can be powerful allies in conserving
water in the landscape. HOA property managers, board members,
and landscape technicians are invited to attend together to learn
how to lower the water use at their sites. The workshop will include
real-world testimonial from industry leaders who have successfully
improved their properties and reduced the water costs through
cooperation and innovation. The latest information about valuable
water-agency financial incentive programs will also be included.

The
annual CLCA San Diego Padre Night will be held Wednesday, September
10, on the Rooftop of the Western Metals Building at Petco Park
in downtown San Diego. The Padres will be facing the Los Angeles
Dodgers with a 7:05 p.m. game time.
The
cost of admission includes all food and drink. The Padrešs staff
arranges a delicious buffet with everything from nachos to Kosher
dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, pasta salads and desserts.
It even includes beer, wine, water and sodas. The buffet is available
from 6:00 p.m. to around 8:00 p..m., so donšt be too late.

Safe
Cleanup of Fire Ash and Debris
The
local fires have resulted in large volumes of fire ash and debris
throughout San Diego County. When mandatory evacuations are lifted,
residents who return to their effected homes and neighborhood
should use caution when they come in contact with these materials.
